To our service partners, community friends and supporters:
Like many organizations, Womanshelter Compañeras has been closely following updates regarding the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We are keeping abreast of recommendations from the CDC and the Executive Office of Health and Human Services on protocols for minimizing the spread of the virus.
Our priority remains the provision of support services to those who are experiencing domestic violence. Because reducing exposure of an unprecedented virus to our participants, volunteers, supporters, staff and community is also of utmost importance, we are taking the following precautions:
- As of Friday, March 13, 2020 anyone who wishes to access domestic violence services will first need to call our emergency hotline number at 413-536-1628. A domestic violence Advocate will be available by phone to conduct an intake assessment and determine the next steps for services.
- For people coming as walk-ins to our offices, information on how to access domestic violence services will be posted outside of our office doors.
- Our Administrative Office will continue to be open Monday–Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; however staff is being asked to help lower risk and prevent the spread of viruses by using video or teleconferencing options for meetings.
- We will not be accepting donations of items until further notice.
We promise to keep you updated on any additional changes to our services or scheduling. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and please be safe.
